Electronics Recycling
Since 1999, SWANCC has provided environmentally-responsible recycling for end-of-life computers and electronics.
Starting January 1, 2012, the Electronics Products Recycling and Reuse Act (SB2313) bans televisions and computer monitors from going into Illinois landfills.
Under the new legislation, only the materials listed to the right will be accepted in SWANCC's three recycling program options. For a list of recycling options for items not taken in the program such as microwaves, home appliances, dehumidifiers, humidifiers and air conditioners, visit SWANCC’s Green Pages directory.
Do not bring household hazardous waste or other unlisted items. Do not drop off electronics other than during the posted dates and times. Thank you for your cooperation!
Supply-Chain Services, Inc. (SSI) contracts with SWANCC to responsibly recycle electronics. Watch this video for information that shows how your electronics' hard drives are erased, demanufactured and processed.

Computer Recycling from Home
The At Home Computer Pickup Program provides SWANCC-area residents with a convenient recycling option for old electronics and computers.
For $30.00 you can recycle 6 items. Additional items are $5 each with a maximum of 15. Cell phones and calculators are accepted at no cost and do not count toward your item total, however we do need to know how many you will be recycling.
Simply schedule a pickup and place your items by your front door on the assigned pickup day. It’s that easy!
Download the At Home Pickup Program brochure.
To be eligible to participate you must:
- Live in a SWANCC member community
- Have street level access to front door (no condos, apartments)
All materials in SWANCC’s program will be dismantled domestically and recycled by an ISO 14001 and 9001 certified contractor. Due to these recycling efforts, natural resources and energy are conserved, materials are recovered or disposed of in a safe manner as well as landfill space saving.
Call (847) 724-9205 x9 to schedule a pickup today!
